DAY 1: Depart on your overnight international flight to Sao Paolo Brazil.

Northern Pantanal
2 nights, Southwild Pantanal Lodge

DAY 2: Arrive in Sao Paolo. Connect with your onwards inter-Brazil flight to Cuiaba. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your lodge in the Northern Pantanal and enjoy lunch en route. The transfer is approximately 3 hours.

Activities at the lodge are organized according to the current weather, logistics and your interests. One forest walk and one boat, car or horse outing per day are included.

1) Forest walk: 1-2 hour morning or afternoon walk in the forest and Savannah not far from the lodge. Your lodge is an excellent location for birding, almost an essential location for serious birders who come to Pantanal. Capuchin Monkeys are often seen in the forest.

2) Boat ride: 2-hour morning or afternoon boat tour of the Rio Pixaim. This is one of the best sites for predictable viewing wild Giant Otters from a distance of only 3 to 16 feet away. Often they will come close to the boat, craning their necks, and snorting loudly.

3) Horseback riding: 2 hour horseback riding through the ranch. This offers a great opportunity to see the Pantanal from a more intimate angle.

Additionally enjoy use of the Jabiru tower close to the lodge and great photo opportunities on the feeders and garden outside. During the hottest time of the day you can enjoy the pool or the large library of nature books.

DAY 3: Enjoy a day of lodge activities.

Northern Pantanal

An untamed paradise situated in central-western Brazil, Northern Pantanal is an awe-inspiring wetland that encompasses about a third of the total Pantanal area, and the world’s largest tropical wetland area. This incredible seasonal floodplain is a natural mosaic of various wetland that forms an extraordinary arrangement number of rivers, lagoons, marshes, lakes and ponds accentuated by forested hills. An unmissable attraction is the city of Pocone, the site of the famous Transpantaneira dirt road which leads travellers to Northern Pantanal’s abundant wildlife. Visitors should look out for anteaters, rhea, hyacinth macaws, capybara, caiman and the world’s largest concentration of jaguars. Further along the road is Pantanal Mato-Grossense National Park, a pristine wildlife hotspot teeming with over 600 species of birds, giant anteaters, giant otters, tapir, howler monkeys and jaguars.

Intimate, air-conditioned lodge on the banks of the wildlife-rich Pixaim River. Unique wildlife observation towers include one located 16 m east of an active nest of habituated Jabiru Storks and a second one in gallery forest along the banks of the river. Tapirs guaranteed in certain months. Capuchins and attractive hawks completely habituated. The world’s tamest wild family of Giant Otters often seen on the river. Electric-motor-powered small boats for photography on the river.

Southern Pantanal
4 nights, SouthWild Jaguar Suites

DAY 4: Early this morning you will depart with you guide to the end of the road at Porto Jofre.

Stop on Transpantaneira to see wildlife; arrive at the end of the road by 10:00 am to take search boats 8mi upstream to our flotels –the Jaguar Flotel in the middle of Jaguarland. Jaguarland represents 100,000 hectares, or one half of one percent of the entire Pantanal. The entire Pantanal is approximately 200,000 square km, which means 4.6 times the size of Denmark or 44% the size of Sweden..(Denmark is 43,000 square km and Sweden is 450,200 square km).

Afterward luncy you will enjoy a 4-h boat outing. Dinner, a unique SouthWild science lecture about unique fauna of the Pantanal.

DAY 5-7: Enjoy 3 full days of game viewing.

Two 4-h boat outings per day search for Jaguars & Giant Otters on some of these four river channels: Three Brothers, Black Channel, Cuiabá and Piquiri.

Southern Pantanal

Located in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Southern Pantanal is a wondrous combination of bustling cities, picturesque cattle ranches and pristine landscape that encompasses almost two-thirds of the largest tropical wetland area in South America. Visitors to the region can begin the Southern Pantanal experience at Corumba, the largest town in the Pantanal and the region’s historic hub. Heading out of town is the unpaved road of Estrada Parque, a popular wildlife route that is home to capybara, jacare, giant anteaters, anacondas and a variety of birdlife. For a taste of local cowboy culture, visit the cattle ranches of Aquidauana and Miranda to discover the cattle rides, music, and traditional leatherwork of the pantaneiro cowboys, kayaking, canoe and fish on the rivers and explore the Maracajú Plateau and Serra mountain ranges.

The Jaguar Suites Flotel features custom-designed, extremely spacious, 30-square metre (323-square-foot) rooms, clearly, the finest, most convenient guest rooms of any terrestrial or floating lodge in the entire Pantanal. Each of the Jaguar Suites rooms have a large, 3-6 meter wide, floor-to-ceiling picture window that slides open to give guests access to their own private, 5m x 1.6m, screened porch.

DAY 8: After breakfast you will check out and continue on a morning boat outing until 8:00-8:30 am. Continue on your boat transfer 8mi downstream to Porto Jofre. From there you will have a 3 hour road transfer to SWP. After lunch you will have an afternoon activity at the lodge.

Northern Pantanal

DAY 9: Enjoy breakfast (6:30 -8:00) and enjoy observe fauna right around the lodge. At the proper time transfer in a closed, air-conditioned vehicle to Cuiabá Airport for your scheduled flight to Sao Paolo. Connect with your onwards international flight to the US.

DAY 10: Arrive in the US.
